Madharaasi is an Indian psychological action thriller in Tamil and is set to be released in 2025. It was written and directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The film was made in the first project by Sri Lakshmi Movies. Sivakarthikeyan plays the lead role of Raghuram “Raghu” a man with Fregoli delusion. The novel combines action with mental illness. It combats the gun culture syndicates through illegal arms which have been propagated in Tamil Nadu. Some of cast of Madharaasi also known as Prem, is played by Biju Menon, and Virat is the vicious villain played by Vidyut Jammwal. Rukmini Vasanth plays the role of Malathy, the female lead in the film, the love interest of Raghu. Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal are also a good addition.
Plot of Madharaasi Movie
A syndicate of arms run by Virat and Chirag intends to supply Tamil Nadu with guns. NIA officer “Prem” and his son Sandeep attempt to intercept five truck loads of arms. They fail. Virat escapes. Prem gets injured. Raghu is a suicidal Renault salesman that Prem encounters in the hospital. Raghu has childhood trauma Fregoli delusion. He considers strangers his lost family. Prem also becomes acquainted with weapons hiding in a gas factory. He has enlisted Raghu in a dangerous undercover mission. Flashback reveals Raghu as he meets Malathy who is a dental student.
She leaves him to check up his wild tendencies. Present day sees guns spread. A schoolboy gets one. Raghu enters and gets shot. Prem pushes him into action. Raghu fights Virat’s men. He then spares Virat but kills him when he threatens to kill Malathi. Chirag attacks NIA. He kills Sandeep. Raghu exposes Mole Sudarshan. He finds Chirag’s hideout. Prem’s team finishes Chirag. A new officer attacks Raghu. Virat escapes. Virat fights with Raghu at harbor. He destroys weapons. Malathi survives a shot. Raghu and Malathi reunite. Prem attributes his love to success.

Budget of Madharaasi Movie
Reports suggest that Madharaasi has a net budget of ₹200 crore. This included production, VFX and salaries of the stars. Sivakumarkeyan billed 40 crores. A.R. Murugadoss made 50 crores as film writer-film director. Globally gross had hit 100 crore. India received an opening of 13 crore day one, 25.40 crore in two days. Madharaasi has not done very well at the box office. It earned 100 crore globally as compared to 200 crore budget. The opening day grossed 21 crore worldwide which was the second-best of Sivakarthikeyan in the wake of Amaran. Day two added ₹11.75 crore in India. Total remained unprofitable.
