Soubin Shahir Controversy
In 2025, Soubin was arrested for his involvement in a financial fraud case. The case was connected to the production of his hit film Manhummel Boys. It was alleged by a foreign investor, Siraj Valiyaveettil, that he was cheated out of ₹7 crore by Soubin. Parava Films, along with Soubin, his father Babu Shahir, and producer Shawn Anthony, were named as the accused.
Siraj claims that the producers promised to pay him 40% of the profits but failed to do so. Additionally, he claims that while they claimed that the film’s budget was 22 crore, it was finished in ₹18.65 crore.
A year before, the Income Tax Department had already raided the Parava Films office in Kochin. This was because of allegations concerning tax evasion and concealment of financial records.
